At Darlington Community Theatre (DCT), we are passionate about building a theatre that showcases incredible local performing arts. We have created a vibrant theatre space by installing state of the art lighting and tech so that local schools dance and performing arts groups can put on amazing shows at an affordable cost without compromising on quality.
Fundraising efforts will help us to further improve the theatre by updating and repairing old office spaces into purpose build dressing rooms for casts of all sizes, improve disabled access so that all members of our community can access our venue, and externally improve the Northgate/ Corporation Road area by making improvements to the carpark and building frontage.
Many local productions have already benefited from our theatre already, STEPPS had their annual pantomime and have booked again for this year, Darlington College ‘Next Steps’ programme (for students with disabilities or learning difficulties) regularly rehearse and perform at our venue, as well as other local performing arts companies such as DAPA, Born to Dance and Polka school of Dance from Durham.
DCT also hold regular social events for the public such as quiz nights, family discos, karaoke nights which are vital in bringing our community together creating a space for families to come together and socialise.
Do you have a building company that is looking for a charity to support? We are looking for building angels to come and help us with a few building projects for our newly created theatre space. We are a nonprofit charity, wanting to create and maintain a fully working community theatre for the Darlington public to enjoy and need YOUR help to do this!
Get in touch if you think you are the angel that can help us either by donating time or materials or any help you can think of.
Thank you!
